Happy Oaks RV Park is situated close to a number of fun attractions. Some of the attractions our guests enjoy include:
Come to a presentation of our 102-year-old Stafford Opera House. Come in the spring to see the beautiful wildflowers burst into color or to join the fun at our annual Magnolia Homes Tour and Live Oak Arts and Crafts Festival. Come in the fall to celebrate our German and Czech heritage at ColumbusFest, or come to a country county fair. Come at any time for a weekend of championship golf and elegant dining in a beautiful wooded setting, or to listen to country music talent in the Nashville manner on Saturday nights.
About Columbus
Take a step back to the present. The elegance and charm of a bygone era, nestled among century-old live oaks and stately magnolias, can be found in Columbus. Columbus, the oldest continuously occupied Anglo-American settlement in Texas, boasts 57 historical sites.
Join our historical walking tour when 10 sites are open, or take the self-guided tour at your own pace. Docents in period dress at each site will tell you all you want to know. Unique shops, including antique shops and multi-dealer markets, guarantee the perfect keepsake.
When it comes to dining options, we have something to suit all taste buds. Whether you want delicate teatime delicacies or robust barbecue, count on us to have it – and everything in between!
Step back to the past where life moves a bit slower, where streets are a whole lot safer, where family counts, where generations mix, and where every day is your chance to have a good time. We do. Come let us share!
Fishing and Kayaking
The 187 miles of the Colorado River between LaGrange and Matagorda Bay on the Gulf of Mexico is a coastal plains run of immense natural scenery and little development. Animal, bird, fish and plantlife are abundant everywhere along this reach. You might see bald eagles, egrets, kingfishers and herons, as well as many species of songbirds. Deer, raccoons, nutria, possums, squirrels, turtles, snakes, foxes, skunks and other animals are common sights. Channel, blue and flathead catfish are popular, as is the Guadalupe Bass, among anglers. Alligator gar are also found in hot, summer months.
